We were married on Friday, June 20, 2008

A Special Thank You. Lucas and I were so happy to have so many of our close friends and family members present in Vegas. It meant the world to us that we had such a great turnout and we enjoyed sharing our nuptials with everyone. Thank you for the honour of your presence, and thank you to those that watched online from home, too. All of the emails and notes of congratulations we've received since returning are so very appreciated also.

So what all did we do on our wedding weekend? Well, we arrived in Las Vegas on Thursday, June 19. We met up with all of the guests already in town at the Roundtable Buffet inside of Excalibur for dinner to catch up and meet and greet. It was the perfect opportunity for everyone to get to know each other. We sure were a fun group and were no doubt noticed wherever we went!

Friday, June 20 at 2:00pm was the ceremony, which was held at A Las Vegas Wedding Chapel, at 727-C South 9th Street in Las Vegas. Afterwards we did pictures at the Bellagio (wow is the Bellagio Conservatory beautiful or what?!) and met for our reception dinner at the wonderful Fellini's Italian restaurant located inside the Stratosphere Hotel & Casino. The food and service was just perfect! After dinner, most of us made our way to Fremont Street to check out the Fremont Street Experience and have some fun.

Our Wedding Party included just Lesley's maid of honour, Michelle, and Lucas' best man, Trevor. Our wedding ceremony was fairly casual and small, which was why we didn't have any bridesmaids and groomsmen beyond that. Speaking of casual, that's the word that best described the dress code. Though we were in a gown and tux, we wanted our guests to wear whatever they wanted to the ceremony -- we wanted them to be comfortable in the Vegas heat and have fun!

On Saturday a large group of us rented cars and drove out to the Hoover Dam to sightsee. It was hot, but so was our Lotus Elise that we rented for the drive! The Hoover Dam was incredible, and our photos just don't do it justice. Sunday most people traveled home and we met up with Trevor and Sheila and their family to enjoy a delicious Champagne Brunch at Mandalay Bay. Afterwards, Lucas and I experienced the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay and then did some relaxing sightseeing of our own all by ourselves. Together we went to the top of the Eiffel Tower at Paris and ate an absolutely amazing dinner at Mon Ami Gabi on the main level. The food was so good, in fact, that we went back an hour later after our Eiffel Tower tour to have dessert. C'est magnifique!

About the Engagement We got engaged on Saturday, November 24, 2007 out in the Canadian Rockies at Lake Minnewanka in Banff National Park. It was breathtaking! Read all about the amazing day here and check out our engagement photos while you're there!

Welcome

We're Back, Ready to Share Photos and Even Some Video! That's right, we just got back last night and already we're ready to share some photos and video clips. First of all, we plan to set up an FTP server for anyone with digital photos to connect to so we can upload everything to one place for everyone to access and share. When that is set up, we'll send out a mass email with instructions. For now, we have uploaded photos from our own camera and the digital copies of the photos taken by the photographer at the ceremony for your convenience. We'll let you know via email when we add more to that as we receive photos from others.

Speaking of those photos, Want to See Our Wedding Photos? Click HERE! We are working to revamp the look of our HTML gallery, but that won't affect the ability to see what we have uploaded so far, so be sure to go check them out! How About Some Video? The DVD of the actual ceremony is being mailed to us by the chapel, and once that arrives we will put it up on the web for you to see. While we're waiting for that, I combined the little video clips we took on our digital camera, stringing them together to form a 5 and a half minute video of some of the adventures of the weekend and posted it HERE. Once we have the actual ceremony DVD from the chapel up and ready for viewing, you'll be the first to know, so just sit tight and stay tuned!

Want the Soundtrack? Those of you in attendance (or even those of you that watched live from home) seemed to enjoy our altered version of the wedding march as my dad and I walked down the aisle. My dad had the idea that we should dance down the aisle, and so I created an alternate version of the traditional wedding march, set to "scratch" and jump to a little shuffle dance music (Herb Alpert's Mexican Shuffle, AKA the Teaberry Shuffle) for a bit so we could dance, and then pick right back up where it left off as we made our way to the altar. This joke was a complete and total surprise to everyone in attendance because my parents and I were the only ones that knew what was up our sleeves. Lucas said afterwards that he was really glad that we did it because it really lightened the mood and made him relax. I think everyone had fun with our dance interlude. If you'd like to download your own copy of the actual mp3 I remixed just for the occasion, you can do so by right clicking this link and then selecting the "save target as" option. Enjoy!
